Start with the kind of trip you want
South Lombok is not one single resort area. Kuta is the most convenient base for restaurants and social life, while places such as Areguling suit travellers who prefer more quiet and privacy. Further along the coast, beach-focused areas can feel even more removed.
Kuta Lombok
Choose Kuta if you want to walk or ride quickly to cafés, restaurants and a busier evening atmosphere. It is practical, central and a good first introduction to the south coast.
Areguling
Areguling is a useful middle ground: close to Kuta, but calmer. It works especially well if your accommodation is part of the experience itself — for example a private villa with a pool and enough space to spend time at home.
